Pole vaulter Holly Bradshaw booked her place at the Rio Olympics with a dominant showing at the British Championships on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Sky Academy Sports Scholar continued her stunning pre-season form at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium to leap 4.60m and become British champion again.

Bradshaw, who has battled back from two years of niggling injuries, went agonisingly close to beating her own national record (4.71m) but the competition was already in the bag, along with the Olympic qualifying mark of 4.50m.

The Preston-born star, based in Cardiff working with coach Scott Simpson, said: "It's amazing to be crowned British champion and secure my place at the Olympics.

"Success in sport is about how good the team around you is! I have to say I have a pretty epic one.

"Since the Birmingham Diamond League, I've competed in a couple of competitions and they've gradually got better and better but today was better again so I'm hoping every time I compete I can keep building and finding my jumps so when it comes to Rio I'll be there.

"I can now focus on my jumping and training. I showed in Beijing [world championships] last year that I can deliver when it matters so I'm relying on that again.

"Every competition from now to Rio is a training session, I just need to work on a few things and look forward to it really."

Fellow Scholar Jessica Judd will have her work cut out to make Brazil, but she's still needing to fighting all the way after finishing eighth in Sunday's 1500m final.
