Mo Farah believes he is on right track for success at Rio Olympics

Mo Farah celebrates in Glasgow after glory in the 3,000m

Mo Farah believes he is on the right track in his preparations for success at this summer's Olympic games.

Farah will compete at the World Half-Marathon Championships in Cardiff on Saturday as he continues his build-up to his defence of both the 5,000 and 10,000m Olympic titles he earned at London 2012.

"Training has gone well, I'm pretty happy how it's gone. Rio is looking good and, as long as I can stay injury-free, I should be good for Rio," said Farah.

"I'm really excited to be competing here, it's part of my journey to Rio. It was a no-brainer to say yes to this race because I love the support of the home crowd.

"Ever since I ran at [London] 2012 in front of 80,000 people I want to run at home. It's going to be a tough race, but hopefully having the home crowd behind me will make a difference."

Farah will be up against strong competition in the Welsh capital, including a number of top athletes from Kenya, including reigning champion Geoffrey Kamworor.

But Farah feels he can combat the challenge of the Kenyans trying to pick him off with group tactics.

"A lot of things will be happening tomorrow. When it's a longer race and there are more people in the team then you can work better," added Farah.

"So it works to their advantage - but I'm a lot more ahead than I was last year.

"I always set goals and targets and I want to get a good result. I have a plan every year and I will analyse the race with my coach.

"It's a chance to win another title and come away with a win, but the target for all of us this year is Rio."
