Padraig Harrington was a welcome visitor to The Open Zone on Wednesday at Royal Troon, and he delighted the crowds with his "Happy Gilmore" drive.
Harrington is well-known for showing off his impression of the lead character in the smash-hit Adam Sandler comedy, but what is not as well known is that the Irishman actually uses it as a genuine practice drill.
The two-time Open champion first explained to Nick Dougherty how he utilises a headcover to help him hit a draw with a three-wood off the deck when he is on the practice range.
And after Nick's wife Di acted as temporary caddie and delivered Harrington's driver to The Open Zone, he obliged with the "walk-up-and-hit-it" routine, making excellent contact.
But he surprised a few when he insisted he used the unusual technique regularly in training, explaining that it helped promote a "better swing" with his feet more planted through the shot.
