Ahead of The 145th Open, former champion Rory McIlroy has been taking a trip down memory lane to look back at his favourite memories from golf’s oldest major.
The world No 4 returns to Scotland next week having missed last year's tournament through injury, looking to replicate his two-shot victory ahead of Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia in 2014.
Rory admitted after his tied-third finish at the Open de France that he had never played at Royal Troon before, but heads to Scotland hoping to challenging for a fifth major title.
The Northern Irishman admits to always following the Open over his younger years and has picked out some of his early memories of players winning the Claret Jug.
Although far too young to remember the likes of Seve Ballesteros and Tom Watson claiming Open titles, he still has plenty of standout highlights from watching previous Championships as a child.
