Danny Willett is targeting further success on the European Tour after securing a one-shot victory at the Omega European Masters.
A week on from a tied-sixth finish at St Andrews, Willett fought off a strong challenge from Sheffield counterpart Matt Fitzpatrick at Crans-sur-Sierre to claim a third European Tour title of his career.
Victory is his second of the season having already won December's Nedbank Golf Challenge, with the 27-year-old looking to continue his recent strong form over the rest of the year.
"Winning once a year would be great, but two in a year is something different," Willett told Sky Sports 4. "We’re just going to keep working hard, keep pressing on and see if we can keep climbing up.
"I was very, very good. I kept very, very calm all day and I just waited for the right things to happen and get on a run.
"Fitzy (Fitzpatrick) played some great golf, kept the pressure on all day. Right up until the last, me and (caddie) Johnny (Smart) said, 'Be prepared just in case, stranger things have happened in golf'. But I'm delighted. A great day today and I can't be happier."
Willett had been unwell when he posted a one-over-par 71 on Saturday, but heralded his testing third round as being crucial to enabling him to earn victory 24 hours later.
"Yesterday was probably the key day, obviously we shot 63, 64 and 65 and then obviously we chucked in the 71," added the world No 32, who could climb into the top 25 with his latest victory.
"But yesterday was a key day to stay in contention. It was a tough day, the wind was flapping and I wasn't feeling the greatest, but I really knuckled down to grind out a one-over-par. It was probably the day that made it."
Season high
Tyrrell Hatton admits he can only be positive about this week's performance, despite narrowly missing out on a maiden European Tour title.
The 23-year-old found himself at the top of the leaderboard on several occasions during the week, but finished in a season-best third spot despite carding an eight-under 62 on Sunday.
"I am really happy," Hatton told the European Tour website. "It is my lowest score on The European Tour, so even though I have come up just short I cannot be disappointed.
"To do it on a Sunday at a place like Crans is very special, so I’ll enjoy this one for a while."
