Chad Campbell takes a two-stroke lead into the third round of the RBC Canadian Open after firing nine birdies in his stunning 63 on Friday.
The 41-year-old enjoyed a bogey-free round at Glen Abbey in Ontario, where he birdied all four par-5s on day two.
Although the American has only hit 50% of greens in regulation, he has used his putter just 49 times over 36 holes.
Campbell has not won on the PGA Tour since 2007 and is currently a lowly 97th in the FedEx Cup standings.
His nearest challenger at the half-way stage is compatriot Brian Harman who offset two bogeys with seven birdies in his five-under-par 67.
One shot further back is Canadian David Hearn whose 64 moved him into a share of third place with American Johnson Wagner.

And Hearn admitted: "If I continue to keep playing the way I am, I know I have a chance.
"I can't control what Chad or any of the other players are going to do. But if I keep doing what I'm doing and stay focused on that, I like my chances."
Aussie Jason Day is four shots off the pace after rounds of 68 and 66, and the world No 10 is confident he can stand at the top of the podium on Sunday evening: "I'm driving it great.
"I'd like to tune up the iron shot but overall I'm hitting it good. Biggest thing for me is still trying to get as much rest as possible, especially coming off last week in Scotland so that I can stay mentally sharp."
England's Luke Donald and Brian Davis survived the cut with nothing to spare on two under, but for Scotland's Martin Laird it was a day to forget as he followed an opening 70 with a round of 80, while Graeme McDowell also failed to make it through to the weekend action.
Ricky Barnes made a 70 which meant he survived with comfort on six under overall, with the American's round notable for the hole-in-one he achieved at the fourth, winning him a BMW sportscar.
