Jonathan Byrd will miss the cut at the Valspar Championship, despite firing a hole-in-one during his second round at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course.
The five-time PGA Tour winner used a four-iron to nail the 211-yard 15th hole, seeing his tee-shot land just a few feet shot of the pin before rolling in to the cup.
Byrd’s ace moved the American to back to level par, before the world No 327 ended the day one-under thanks to a birdie at the par four last.
"I had good vision of what I wanted to do," Byrd said. "(It) landed about 2 feet short of the hole and went right in.”
While a second round 70 was an improvement on a opening round 74, it wasn't enough to see Byrd avoid the projected cut over one-over and go through to the weekend.
