Andrew Coltart looks back at an impressive display from Tyrrell Hatton at the British Masters and reviews the second-round action at Close House.
You wouldn't have thought it earlier, but those out this morning in that heavy rain maybe got the best of the conditions. There was a little breeze later in the day and the early starters didn't have to contend with that.
The softer conditions made it a little trickier on the putting surfaces for the later starters, which pushed the scoring up by a shot this afternoon.
Hatton's playing lovely and the confidence appears to be returning to him. He has a new caddie on the bag and that seems to have just sparked things a little within his game.
He was hitting fairways, was aggressive when he needed to be and now heads into the weekend with a three-shot lead.
He knew the greens were a little bit bobbly on Thursday, but he used his patience and took full advantage of the smoother putting surfaces this morning.
There are so many distractions for tournament-host Lee Westwood this week, both on the course and around the event itself.
I don't think you can say enough about what he has done to be honest. He was hoping that a lot of people would come to watch, which he has seen this week with great crowds.
He is doing a great job in going out and being able to separate the two jobs as tournament host and player. Westwood is doing the business on the golf course and is in a great position heading into the weekend.
Rory McIlroy is quite a way back but could still go low over the weekend. I thought some of his putts were better today and it was great that he dug in there to make it through.
