Masters contenders: Jimmy Walker

Jimmy Walker tees off on the second hole during round three of the Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio AT&T Oaks Course.

Now aged 36, Jimmy Walker will be making his second appearance at the Masters following an impressive eighth place in 2014, one which could've been so much more but for a third-round 76.

The Oklahoman is someone to admire, having worked hard over a number of years first to establish himself as a regular contender on the PGA Tour, and now to become a proven winner with an excellent Ryder Cup debut under the belt.

Key facts

World ranking: 10
Masters form: 8
2015 starts: 2-1-7-21-41-31-1

Walker is a long, straight driver who has no obvious weaknesses, and already in 2015 he's added to his collection of victories having put in arguably the dominant display of the season in the Sony Open before bettering it with a performance of exceptional quality in the Texas Open.

Walker ranks inside the top-10 on the PGA Tour in par-five performance which is always a valuable asset around Augusta, while his consistent ability to make the weekend is if anything undervalued.

Many will arrive at Augusta under a great fanfare, but few look so solid as Walker. Whether or not he can win a major title remains to be seen, but the prospect of him playing well is extremely strong.
