Rory Mcilroy got off to an adventurous start to his final round at the Masters.

Rory McIlroy closed the gap on Patrick Reed at the top of the Masters leaderboard after drama over the opening two holes of their final round.

The pair made up the final pairing at Augusta National, with Reed beginning the day three shots clear of McIlroy and a further two ahead of the chasing pack.

Reed saw his opening tee shot finish close to a tree but appeared to have the advantage when McIlroy narrowly avoided going out of bounds after pulling his tee shot in to the pines.

McIlroy got lucky with his lie and was able to clear the trees to join Reed in the greenside bunker, where the Northern Irishman got up-and-down for par as Reed made bogey.

With the lead down cut to two, Reed missed the par-five next green in two as McIlroy fired his drive down the middle of the fairway and stuck his stunning approach to five feet.
