Going from a former car stereo salesman to PGA Champion highlighted a dramatic rise for 2002 winner turned Sky Sports pundit Rich Beem.
Despite having won the The International two weeks earlier to go alongside two other top-five finishes on the PGA Tour during 2002, Beem still went to Hazeltine as a relative outsider to win the Wanamaker Trophy.
Playing in only his fourth career major, Beem found himself out in the final group alongside Justin Leonard after rolling in a 12-foot birdie putt at the final hole of his third round.
A strong start to Sunday saw Beem move in to the lead coming to the final nine holes, before a superb eagle at the 11th was followed by a birdie at the 13th to leave the American six strokes clear with five to play.
Tiger Woods piled on the pressure by finishing with four consecutive birdies and setting the clubhouse lead at nine under, only for Beem to rattle in a 35-foot putt birdie at the 16th and close out a memorable one-shot win.
