Just over two and a half hours of golf were possible before the threat of storms saw play suspended at 10.08am local time, leaving all 82 players still yet to complete their third rounds.

Jhonattan Vegas and Brain Stuard share the advantage on top of a bunched leaderboard at TPC Louisiana, where just five strokes currently separate 23 players.

Both players were only able to complete five holes before play was suspended, with Vegas opening with back-to-back birdies and Stuard picking up a shot by holing from the second green.

Sponsors exemption Bobby Wyatt was the big mover of the day, following an eagle-three at the second with four gains in a five-hole stretch during a front-nine 30 to parachute himself within one of the lead.

Jamie Lovemark is a further stroke back on 11 under, while Charley Hoffman moved in to the tie for fifth by carding four consecutive birdies before play was brought to a halt.

Hoffman is joined three off the pace by world No 1 Jason Day, who bounced back from a blemish at the sixth to birdie the next and drain a 30-footer at the eighth, with Scott Stallings, Chris Kirk and Charles Howell III also in that group.
