Mikko Ilonen made history by making a landmark hole-in-one during the opening round of the KLM Open.
The Finn holed his tee shot at the par-three 14th on Friday on his way to a two-under 69 at The Dutch, with the ace the 1,000th ever registered on the European Tour.
Ilonen's historic ace, his second in European Tour history, came 44 years after Cyril Pennington recorded the first official hole-in-one during the 1973 Benson & Hedges Match Play Championship.
The iconic ace is the 31st on the European Tour this campaign - some way short of the season record of 46 set in 2015 - with Miguel Angel Jimenez claiming 10 holes-in-one during his lengthy career.
Following Ilonen's landmark hole-in-one, we've delved in to the archives to look back at some of the most memorable aces through European Tour history.
