Bernd Wiesberger fired a five-under 66 to hold a share of the lead during a weather-affected opening round at the KLM Open.
The Austrian, the highest-ranked player in the field, mixed seven birdies with two bogeys in wet and windy conditions at The Dutch to set the clubhouse target.
Richard Finch matched Wiesberger's total just before the action was suspended due to adverse weather, with play eventually abandoned for the day at 4.30pm local time.
Wiesberger opened with back-to-back birdies from the 10th and added further gains at the 15th and 18th to reach the turn in 32.
The world No 34 picked up another shot at the second and cancelled out a missed par-save from six feet at the fifth by birdied his next two holes, but bogeyed the last after failing to get up-and-down from the rough.
"The conditions were really tough out there and although I gave away a couple of easy shots I am really happy with the score and the way I played today," Wiesberger said. "I putted nicely today and controlled the ball flight well.
"I have been playing well recently but maybe not getting the results I feel I should have been getting so hopefully I can change that soon."
Finch opened with successive gains and responded to a bogey-five at the 11th by racking up four birdies in a row from the 13th - his lowest European Tour round in two years.
Joakim Lagergren and Ashun Wu sit tied-third on four under, with England's Matt Wallace part of the group two off the pace.
Afternoon starter Lee Westwood was one under after four holes when play was suspended, with play to resume at 8am local time on Friday morning.
