We continue our review of 2015 by looking back at five players to have missed out on victory with a final-round collapse.

Kaymer's not-so perfect 10

When Martin Kaymer went in to the final round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship with a six-shot lead, few would have expected anything other than a comfortable victory for the Ryder Cup star.

The German carried on Sunday from where he had left off over the previous three days with three birdies over the opening four holes to go ten shots clear, only to suffer the most dramatic of collapses over the rest of his round.

As Gary Stal surged up the leaderboard with six gains in an eight-hole stretch around the turn, Kaymer gifted the Frenchman the outright advantage by double-bogeying the ninth and running up a triple-bogey seven at the 13th.

Kaymer closed with five consecutive pars to limp home with a three-over 75, ending the week two shots off the pace as Stal claimed a one-stroke win over Rory McIlroy.

Poulter goes for a plunge

Ian Poulter hasn't tasted victory worldwide since the 2012 WGC-HSBC Champions, but the Englishman squandered a glorious opportunity to end his winless run when well-placed at the Honda Classic.

Having gone in to the final round of the rain-soaked PGA National with a three-shot lead, Poulter lost ground when he found the water in successive holes with an ugly shank at the eighth and a pulled drive at the next.

Resuming on Monday in a share of the lead, Poulter found the water another three times during an erratic four-over 74 to finish one short of eventual champion Padraig Harrington.

Schwartzel's shocker on home soil

Although a runner-up finish in Johannesburg represented his season-best display until winning the Alfred Dunhill Championship, Schwartzel will look back on the early-season event as a chance for victory gone begging.

The home favourite took a commanding five-shot lead in to the final round of the South African Open and despite looking far from impressive was still four strokes clear as he made his way to the 14th.

A blemish there was followed by a three-putt double-bogey at the 16th, with another dropped shot at the next allowed Andy Sullivan to move alongside him at the top of the leaderboard.

With both players parring the last to force a play-off, Sullivan snatched a maiden victory with a birdie thanks to a remarkable recovery from between the trees.

DJ's chamber of horrors

A near-miss in a major is nothing new for Dustin Johnson, but the 31-year-old's closest encounter with one of the big four came late on at the US Open.

A three putt on the 72nd hole from Dustin Johnson handed Jordan Spieth the 2015 US Open at Chambers Bay.

Johnson went in to the final round at Chambers Bay part of a four-way tie for the lead and went in to the back nine two strokes clear over the chasing pack, but quickly saw his advantage disappear.

Three bogeys in the space of four holes saw Spieth move in to a three-shot lead, only for the pair to pull all square when the Masters champion racked up a double-bogey five at the 17th as Johnson carded a birdie-two.

With a second title of 2015 up for grabs, Johnson found the green at the par-five last in two to leave a 12-foot eagle putt for victory - only three-putt for par and hand Spieth a second successive major victory.

Europe's Solheim stutter

Europe have dominated recent Solheim Cup's and Carin Koch's side appeared on course for a third consecutive victory when they moved in to a convincing lead heading in to the Sunday singles.

With Suzann Pettersen and Charley Hull's controversial win over Alison Lee and Stacy Lewis giving the hosts a 10-6 advantage in Germany, the home side needed to just four points from the 12 matches to retain the title.

Carlota Ciganda missed a putt at the last to deny Europe an early point and Caroline Masson was unable to sink the 12-footer that would've given the home side the half point needed to retain their title.

With the momentum now with the visitors, Juli Inkster's side would go on to win all five of the remaining matches to sneak an unlikely 14.5-13.5 victory.
