Tiger Woods lights up The Memorial with a vintage hole-out for eagle that had the fans in raptures as he charged up the leaderboard on day two

Tiger Woods lit up the second day of The Memorial with a vintage display and sent the crowd wild with a superb hole-out for eagle at the 11th on day two.

Woods was hampered by a stiff back early in his first round and slipped to four over before recovering to salvage a commendable level-par 72, but he was flying on Friday and soared to five under before the threat of lightning suspended play.

But the five-time champion lit up Muirfield Village himself with a perfect 95-yard wedge at the par-five 11th, following the advice of Sky Sports commentator Rich Beem as he pitched his ball a couple of yards past the pin and the backspin took it straight back into the cup.

Woods had the fans in raptures again moments later when his tee shot to the par-three 12th caught a piece of the flag and stopped just six feet from the hole, although the klaxons then sounded to halt play before the 42-year-old had a chance to putt.
