Justin Rose to feature at Scottish Open in preparation for The Open

European Ryder Cup stalwart won the tournament in 2014

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - NOVEMBER 14: Justin Rose of England hits a tee shot on the 4th hole during the Pro-Am prior to the DP World Tour Championshi

Justin Rose will return to the Scottish Open for the first time in three years as the former champion aims for a repeat of his triumph in 2014.

The world No 5 won the tournament, which precedes The Open, with a flawless final-round six-under 65 at Royal Aberdeen four years ago.

This year's edition sees Scotland's national open, part of the European Tour's Rolex Series, move back to Gullane Golf Club, from July 12-15, and Rose is hoping to create further positive memories.

"The last time I played at Gullane in 2015 I followed up with a sixth place finish in The Open, so I'm looking forward to teeing it up there again, and to two good weeks of links golf."

"The Scottish Open win in 2014 was definitely a memorable one. It was the first time I had gone two in a row, after winning in America the previous week," Rose said.

"I really got to love the golf course and had a very special week.

Scottish Open defending champion

Rafa Cabrera Bello will defend the title he won in a play-off at Dundonald Links.

Rose, a ten-time European Tour winner, was part of memorable final round duel with Sergio Garcia at last year's Masters and the US Open champion will be hopeful participation at the East Lothian venue can provide ideal preparation for quest at a second major title.
