Looking to follow on from his 4&2 win over James Hahn on Wednesday, Day got off to a fast start and moved two ahead by following a two-putt birdie at the first with a 35-foot gain at the fourth.

Day found the front edge of the par-five sixth green in two and was lining up a long-range look at eagle, only to completely misjudge his effort over the ridge and knock his putt off the green in to rough.
