Tony Finau has become known for his long-hitting with the driver but showcased his accuracy with a timely hole-in-one during the third round of the Sony Open in Hawaii.
The American was struggling on Saturday for momentum and languishing well off the leaders at four-under for the event but his round took a turn for the better at the par-three 17th.
Finau picked an eight-iron out of the bag for the 176-yard tee shot and landed it on line before the ball bounced twice before dropping into the cup for his first ace on the PGA Tour and the first of the tournament.
The 28-year-old, with a second successive three-under 67, was unable to make up ground on the field but his effort will go down as the shot of the day.
Finau, who began his round on the back nine, carded a three-under 32 on the back nine before mixing two birdies with two bogeys.
