Jordan Spieth has donated a signed replica of the club that played a key role in his dramatic Open victory to Royal Birkdale.
The Southport-based course tweeted on Wednesday that it received a "special delivery to the club", showing the arrival of the three-iron identical to the one Spieth used to produce one of the most miraculous recoveries in the tournament's history.
Spieth had been tied at the top of the leaderboard with six holes left of the final round, only to hit a drive at the par-four 13th way right of the fairway and in a unplayable spot behind a sand dune.
It took more than 20 minutes of deliberation with rules officials for Spieth to take his drop and play his third from the practice area, where Spieth incredibly laced his 3-iron from a guessed yardage over the dunes and just short of the green.
The American then got up-and-down to salvage an unlikely bogey, before bouncing back with three birdies and an eagle over the next four holes to complete a three-shot victory.
