Andrew "Beef" Johnston has pulled out of this week’s British Masters after failing to recover from a shoulder injury.
Johnston hasn't featured since withdrawing mid-tournament from last month's PGA Championship, where he carded an opening-round 78 at Quail Hollow.
The world No 124 remained hopeful of making a return to action on home soil at Close House, but now has now reluctantly earmarked an October return.
He tweeted: "Really gutted to be missing British masters this week. Hope all goes well @WestwoodLee @SkySportsGolf hope to be back for Italy."
Beef has only posted one top-10 in 15 worldwide starts in 2017 and is currently 104th in the Race to Dubai standings, having spent the first half of the year playing on the PGA Tour.
The fans' favourite impressed in last year's event and was one off the lead after 36 holes at The Grove, only to slip out of contention and end the week in a share of 28th.
Johnston's next scheduled appearance is on the European Tour's Rolex Series at the Italian Open, which is live on Sky Sports from October 12-15.
Watch the British Masters throughout the week live on Sky Sports Golf. Live coverage begins with the Hero Challenge on Tuesday from 7.30pm
