It's an age-old golfing dilemma. Shall I lay up or go for broke?
Of course, your average hacker finds themselves dealing with such a quandary when they have sliced their drive into the wrong fairway on a 350-yard par-four down the local municipal.
It is a somewhat different game for the pros, who have spent their weekend dealing with the par-71 TPC Boston, which features a 600-yard par-five.
Not a cakewalk then, but you would think a five-time Major winner and his bagman would be fairly adept at plotting their way around the course.
But Mickelson is nothing if not an entertainer and, when he found himself in the rough on one hole, the popular veteran turned to a youngster called Riley in the crowd, and sought his assistance.
To the delight of the onlookers, Riley was more than happy to offer his advice, but did he come up trumps or is Mickelson's caddie safe in his job for the time being?
