Jim Furyk will captain Team USA at the 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National, continuing his affiliation to a tournament he has been involved in for more than two decades.
Furyk has been an ever-present member of the USA set-up since making his Ryder Cup debut in 1997, making nine consecutive appearances as a player before assisting Davis Love III at Hazeltine last autumn.
The 46-year-old has also played in seven Presidents Cups and served as a vice-captain in the 2015 victory, but now has the responsibility of securing the USA's first Ryder Cup victory on away soil since 1993.

1997 (W1-L2-H0)
One of four rookies in the team at Valderrama, Furyk saw his opening fourball match end in defeat when him and Tom Lehman were beaten at the last by Jesper Parnevik and Per-Ulrik Johansson.
Furyk and Lee Janzen lost by the same when facing Colin Montgomerie and Bernhard Langer in the Saturday foursomes, while a 3&2 win over Sir Nick Faldo in the singles wasn't enough to stop the USA losing 14.5-13.5.
1999 (W1-L2-H0)
Furyk was part of a dominant Sunday for Ben Crenshaw's side, as the USA snatched a narrow 14.5-13.5 victory in the "Battle of Brookline".
A 4&3 win over Sergio Garcia in the singles was one of eight wins for the hosts on a dramatic final day, where the USA overturned a 10-6 deficit to reclaim the trophy.
That point was Furyk's only return for the week, having been beaten alongside Phil Mickelson in the Friday fourballs and in the foursomes the following day with Mark O'Meara.
2002 (W1-L2-H2)
Montgomerie & Langer brushed aside Furyk and Scott Hoch 4&3 in the opening session, only for the American to pair up with Stewart Cink and reply with a 3&2 victory over Paul McGinley and Padraig Harrington later in the day.
Cink and Furyk were beaten 2&1 by Lee Westwood and Garcia in the Saturday foursomes, before a final-hole par from McGinley for Europe in the afternoon session meant the two teams went in to Sunday tied at 8-8.
Furyk faced McGinley in the singles, where the pair were all-square heading to the 18th. As Furyk left himself a kick-in par from the rough, McGinley holed the eight-footer needed to get the half-point for a European victory.
2004 (W1-L3-H0)
A 6&4 thrashing of David Howell was Furyk's only point from a disappointing week at Oakland Hills, where Europe won 18.5-9.5 to retain the trophy in record-breaking fashion.
Garcia and Westwood joined forces to thrash Furyk and David Toms 4&3 in the opening session, before Furyk was beaten in the Saturday fourballs alongside Chad Campbell.
That 1up defeat was followed by a loss of the same margin playing with Fred Funk in the Saturday foursomes, where Garcia and Luke Donald extended Europe's advantage.
2006 (W2-L3-H0)
Furyk's only ever fourball victory came when he partnered with Tiger Woods at the K Club, where they defeated Harrington and Montgomerie at the last.
The pair would join forces for all four sessions over the first two days, where they lost the final two holes of their Friday foursomes match against Donald and Garcia.
Furyk and Woods were beaten 3&2 by Westwood and Darren Clarke on Saturday morning as Europe extended their lead, but the pair bounced back to see off Harrington and McGinley by the same margin.
Europe then claimed 8.5 points out of a possible 12 on their way to another convincing victory, with Furyk losing 2&1 to Paul Casey on the final day.
2008 (W2-L1-H1)
Paul Azinger's USA outfit stayed unbeaten throughout the Friday foursomes, despite Furyk and Kenny Perry losing their final two holes to halve their contest against Westwood and Garcia.
The pair reunited 24 hours later to dispatch Harrington and Robert Karlsson 3&1, but were then beaten in the Saturday fourballs by Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell.
The hosts then dominated the Sunday singles on their way to a 16.5-11.5 victory, with Furyk's 2&1 triumph over Miguel Angel Jimenez one of 7.5 points registered on the final day.
2010 (W0-L2-H1)
A final-hole birdie secured a share of the spoils with Rickie Fowler in their foursomes match versus Westwood and Martin Kaymer, before Furyk and Dustin Johnson lost 2&1 in the fourballs against Harrington and Ross Fisher.
The USA won seven of the 12 singles matches in a weather-delayed finish at Celtic Manor, but Furyk lost at the 18th against Donald as Europe reclaimed the trophy.
2012 (W1-L2-H0)
Captian's pick Furyk and Brandt Snedeker were narrowly beaten 1up by Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell in the opening session, but saw off the Northern Irish pair by the same margin in the Saturday foursomes as the USA moved into an 8-4 lead.
He then bogeyed the final two holes of his singles match with Garcia, giving the Spaniard a narrow 1up victory and helping Europe towards a 14.5-13.5 victory - later dubbed the 'Miracle of Medinah'.
2014 (W1-L3-H0)
Tom Watson left Furyk out of the opening session but put him alongside Matt Kuchar for the afternoon foursomes, where they were beaten 2up by Westwood and Jamie Donaldson.
Furyk then played with Hunter Mahan on Saturday, where the duo thrashed Westwood and Donaldson in the fourballs before losing 3&2 to Rory McIlroy and Garcia.
A repeat of Medinah saw Furyk pitted against Garcia once again in the singles, where Europe prevailed at the final hole on their way to a convincing 16.5-11.5.
