Lydia Ko shoots a course record 62 to lead by three

Lydia Ko carded 11 birdies as she posted a second-round 62 to take control of the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship in Florida.

The New Zealander, who teed-off at Tiburon in a tie-for-16th, opened her account with three straight birdies and at the halfway stage holds a three-shot advantage.

She covered the back nine in just 31 shots, which included a bogey four at the 12th.

In all, she needed just 22 putts and missed only one fairway, as she moved into prime position to not only win the tournament but also end the year as the LPGA Tour's No 1 player.

Her nearest challengers after 36 holes are American Ryann O'Toole and Korean So-yeon Ryu, who carded 67 and 68 respectively.

But it was a topsy-turvy day for Britain's Charley Hull, who started the second round just one stroke off the pace.

The 20-year-old from Kettering experienced a mixed bag on day two, which began brightly thanks to three birdies in her opening four holes.

However, it all came crashing down at the par-five 5th where she made a double-bogey seven.

On the back nine, she offset two bogies with three birdies, as her two-under-par 70 left her five shots off the pace and in a tie-for-6th.

The English player remains in contention but will be disappointed at hitting just 11 of 18 greens in regulation on Friday.
