European Tour Chief Executive Keith Pelley believes golf's new Rolex Series will be good for the sport

The European Tour has announced a newly-established money list to give players a greater chance of securing their playing rights for the 2018 season.

The Access List will run alongside with the Race to Dubai but will exclude money earned at the seven events covered in the new Rolex Series, as well as the Masters, the US PGA Championship and the four World Golf Championships.

Money earned from The Open and US Open will be included in the standings, with players finishing inside the top 10 who aren't already exempt from the Race to Dubai securing a full card for 2018.

The number of players keeping membership from the Race to Dubai will be reduced from 110 to 100 from next season, with the Access List players given a category immediately below the top 100.

Members on the Access List will also get the chance to qualify for Rolex Series events, with the European Tour Chief Executive Keith Pelley confident that it will be a success.

"We want young players to aspire to play in the Rolex Series, and in order to do that, we felt that we had to create a second Money List that runs concurrently with The Race to Dubai," Pelley said.

"We have consistently said that looking after the interests of all our members, whatever their ranking, is a high priority for us and the establishment of the Access List is an important part of that commitment.

"With a difference in terms of prize level, from our Rolex Series to our other events, it was critical that our categories 13, 14, 15 and 16, our Challenge Tour players, our Q-School players, had a pathway when they actually received their card."

The top three players on the Access List the week before Rolex Series events will be eligible to compete in the field.
