Justin Rose to team up with Henrik Stenson at new-look Zurich Classic

CHASKA, MN - SEPTEMBER 30: Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose of Europe react on the ninth green during morning foursome matches of the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazel

Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose will get the chance to rekindle their prolific partnership when paired alongside each other at the new-look Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The tournament will receive a drastic change in format from 2017, with the traditional individual event changing to a new two-man team event containing 160 players.

The first and third rounds will consist of foursomes, with the fourball format used for the other two days and a midway cut of the best 35 teams and ties.

Olympic medalists Rose and Stenson are relishing the chance to play together as a team, having previously played alongside each other in three Ryder Cups and during a memorable final round at this year's Open Championship

"The Zurich Classic is already a special tournament for me," said Rose, who won the event ahead of Cameron Tringale in 2015. "The addition of a team format adds a new, incredibly exciting element to the event.

"Henrik and I are very excited to tee it up together in April, and hopefully we can continue our longstanding chemistry and success in team formats."

FedExCup points and prize money will be available for teams making the cut, with the top available players on the PGA Tour's priority rankings getting to select their playing partner.
