Si Woo Kim came so close to joining an elite club on his way to taking the midway lead at the Wyndham Championship
The world No 115 moved top of the leaderboard after mixing eight birdies with an eagle on his way to a 10-under 60 at Sedgefield Country Club, but came agonisingly close to becoming only the seventh player in PGA Tour history to shoot 59.
Beginning on the back nine, Kim birdied three of his opening four holes and followed a seven-foot gain at the 15th with a close-range two at the next.
An 18-footer saw the Korean reach the turn in 29, before the Korean rolled in a 10-footer at the second and converted an eagle-three at the fifth.
After converting a putt from a similar distance at the eighth, Kim found the par-four ninth green in two and left himself a chance of carding a sub-60 round.
Kim's winding effort from 50 feet seemed to have the perfect line and pace, but brushed the edge of the cup to leave a kick-in par.
