Phil Mickelson and Jim Furyk both came inches away from firing holes-in-one at the Postage Stamp during the second round of The Open at Royal Troon.
Louis Oosthuizen fired the week's first hole-in-one when he nailed his tee shot at the par-three 14th with a six-iron on Thursday, with the American pair both coming close to adding their names to the ace list in the rain on Friday morning.
Mickelson, who held a three-shot overnight lead after a record-equalling opening-round 63, had already made birdies at the fourth and the seventh when he made his way to the short par-three.
The 2013 Open champion then saw his tee shot spin back to within a couple of revolutions of the hole, presenting the simplest of birdie putts on his way to a two-under 69.
Jim Fuyrk came even closer later in the day, leaving himself a kick-in two to get back under par for the round.
