Watch Andy Sullivan's amazing finish to his third round at the French Open.

Andy Sullivan produced the perfect response to a bad run on the back nine on day three of the 100th Open de France as he closed with a spectacular eagle at Le Golf National.

Sullivan was one under for the day and four under for the tournament after he rolled in his third birdie putt of the round at the 12th, but he then plummeted down the leaderboard after he ran up a double-bogey seven at 14, an error he compounded with another dropped shot at the next.

But, needing a positive finish to haul himself back into contention, he provided a grandstand finish as he holed his second shot to the 18th for a rare eagle-two on one of the European Tour's toughest finishing holes.

His tee shot split the fairway and left him 186 yards to the flag, and his caddie initially suggested a seven-iron before the charismatic Englishman settled on one extra club - and it proved to be an inspired choice.

Sullivan made perfect contact and his ball pitched a few feet left of the pin before gripping and spinning into the middle of the cup, prompting the biggest cheer of the day from the appreciative crowds surrounding the green.
