Branden Grace holds off Luke Donald to claim RBC Heritage title

Highlights of the fourth and final round of the RBC Heritage event.

Branden Grace held off a final-round challenge from Luke Donald and Russell Knox to claim a first PGA Tour title at the RBC Heritage.

The world No 14 closed a six-under 66 to claim a two-shot win in South Carolina, with Donald having to settle for a share of second for a fourth time at Harbour Town.

Grace mixed seven birdies with two blemishes to take his second worldwide title of 2016, with overnight pacesetter Donald unable to covert his 54-hole advantage in to a first victory in three years.

Knox made a fast start by following a first-hole birdie with close-range gains at the fifth and sixth, joining Grace one off the pace after the South African started with successive gains.

Grace bounced back from a three-putt bogey at the short fourth to pick up strokes over the next two and move alongside Donald, who completed the first five holes in regulation, with Knox making it a three-way tie for the lead when he drained an 18-footer at the ninth.

A long-range birdie-two from Donald at the seventh lifted the Englishman back ahead, only for him to bogey the next after sending his tee shot in to the water.

That handed the advantage back to Grace, whose stunning approach set up a close-range gain at the ninth to complete a front-nine 32, as Knox missed his par save from 15 feet at the 12th.

Donald responded by nudging in a three to reach the turn at eight under, but sent his approach in to par-four next in to a bunker and was unable to get up-and-down for par.

A two-putt par from at the 11th left Donald unable to close the gap on Grace, who quickly trebled his advantage back-to-back birdies from the 12th.

Knox joined Donald in a share of second when he almost holed his second shot in to the par-four 16th, before a couple of impressive clutch pars over the closing stretch saw the Scot close a four-under 67.

After a run of pars, Grace saw his lead cut to two when he missed at the 17th from six feet, before two-putting from distance at the last to set the clubhouse target.

A week after missing the cut at the Masters, Branden Grace has won his first PGA Tour title at the Heritage.

That left Donald needing to hole his second shot at the par-four last to last force the play-off, but finished in regulation and sign for a level-par 71. 

Bryson DeChambeau ended his first professional start alongside Kevin Na in a tie for fourth, with Jason Kokrak a further stroke back after double-bogeying the 18th.

World No 1 and midway joint-leader Jason Day followed Saturday's season-worst 79 with a three-under 68 to end the week one under, while Open champion Zach Johnson closed with a bogey-filled 77 with consecutive blemishes.
