On the seventh hole during the second round of the Honda Classic Sergio Garcia came within inches of making a hole in one

Sergio Garcia has provided plenty of highlights over the first two days of the Honda Classic, and he came within an inch of adding another to his showreel towards the end of his second round.

Garcia caught the eye on day one when he holed his 148-yard approach to the second for an outstanding eagle-two, and four holes later he opted to splash his ball out of water despite the threat of alligators and snakes.

The Spaniard shared the overnight lead, and he parred the first seven holes of his second round before pitching in from a greenside bank at the 17th, although he found the going tougher on the front nine as he bogeyed the first and sixth either side of a birdie at four.

But he then produced the shot of the day at the difficult 220-yard par-three seventh, drilling a low three-iron to the front portion of the vast green and watching closely as his ball released and rolled straight towards the hole.

It looked in all the way, but his ball was an ounce or two short of pace and rolled across the face of the cup before coming to rest on the lip.

A good gust of wind would likely have blown his ball into the hole as he made his way to the green, but Garcia had to settle for the simplest of tap-in birdies which got him back to six under - two behind leader and playing partner Rickie Fowler.
