Jordan Spieth admits he is already looking at ways to improve as he bids to live up to expectations after a record-breaking 2015.
The 22-year-old returns to action this week at Hyundai Tournament of Champions as part of a limited 32-man field in Hawaii made up of last season's PGA Tour winners.
Spieth posted back-to-back major titles on his way to world No 1, following a wire-to-wire victory at the Masters with a one-shot win at the US Open in a year that saw him reach the winner's circle five times.
A dominant win at the season-ending Tour Championship saw the American break the PGA Tour's record for season earnings and also become the youngest winner of the FedExCup, with Spieth now keen to build on last year's record over the months ahead.
"What's a great year for me? Last year!" Spieth said. "For me, I'm not even thinking of it as a New Year.
"I'm just thinking that we had a three-week break and we're just continuing to hopefully stay at the same level.
"I reflected on how fantastic last season was, and then I sat down and Cameron (McCormick, Spieth's coach) and I went through how we can improve. We just nailed down specifics on what I need to work on each week and we kind of picked a plan that I'm going to go through each week.
"If I can get there (in contention on a Sunday) at least a couple times this year again, that means that our plan building up to the majors is continuing to work, and then it comes down to each individual event, being able to close them out."
Spieth tees off alongside Patrick Reed for the opening round at Kapalua Plantation GC, with PGA Championship winner Jason Day paired with Players Championship winner Rickie Fowler and Claret Jug holder Zach Johnson playing with last month's Hero World Challenge winner Bubba Watson.
Fowler heads into 2016 as world No 6 after posting three victories last year, but the 27-year-old has set his sights on building towards a maiden major title.
"The biggest thing going forward is continue to get myself in contention and give myself chances to win," Fowler said.
"The main goal going into this year is focusing on the majors, first one obviously being Augusta, getting myself into contention there, and I'd really like to knock off my first major.
"Over the past couple years I feel like I know what I'm bringing to the golf course day in and day out, and I know what I'm working with.
"I didn't have the greatest in the majors after the year before. I think I was able to hang around and get some top finishes in the majors in '14 and then last year to go out and get the wins. If we put those two together, then we win a major this year."
