We spend time with world number 44 Chris Wood as he prepares for his second appearance at the Masters next April

When Chris Wood arrives in Georgia next April, to make his second appearance at The Masters, he admits he will be a completely different golfer to the one who made his debut at Augusta National in 2010.

Back then, Wood was relatively inexperienced as a professional but had earned his invitation thanks to a top-three finish in The Open Championship at Turnberry the previous July.

On this occasion it was his year-long performances on the European Tour which helped him secure his slot in the season's opening major championship.

He won his second career Tour title in Austria back in June, finished 17th in the Race to Dubai standings, but still needed a high finish at his final start of 2015 to book his return ticket to Augusta.

At Sun City in early December, he went into the final round in eighth place before posting a closing 68 which moved him into third spot.

This performance lifted him to No 44 in the World Ranking, having started the week at No 52 - he needed to be in the top 50 to qualify for The Masters.

I'm a completely different golfer know. I feel I'll be able to go there and compete, whereas before I probably felt I was only there making up the numbers.

And the 28-year-old from Bristol told Sky Sports News HQ: "Just so excited to know I'll be going back there.

"I've really progressed over the past three or four months. I've made steady progress up the World Ranking. I knew I had to finish fop five or so in the Nedbank to climb into the top 50 before the year's end.

"And I made a great up and down from a plugged lie at the last for a par, so it felt a bit like a win to be honest. It opens a lot of doors."

As for heading back to The Masters, he added: "I'd only been a year on Tour and felt so inexperienced last time. Looking back now I can't believe I was there to be honest.

"But I'm a completely different golfer know. I feel I'll be able to go there and compete, whereas before I probably felt I was only there making up the numbers."

In 2010, he missed the cut following rounds of 78 and 76.
