Rory McIlroy habit of giving away free gear has now extended to A-list superstars after Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg revealed he was the proud owner of a new driver.
Last month, McIlroy gave a fan the surprise of his life when he offered to send him a new driver following a light-hearted request on his Facebook page.
But as well as giving away gifts to members of the public, Wahlberg also benefitted from McIlroy's generosity after the pair spent time together at Portmarnock last weekend.
Wahlberg was is Ireland to promote his new movie, Daddy's Home, along with co-star Will Ferrell, but a trip to the famous links of Portmarnock was first on Wahlberg's list of priorities.
Avid golfer Wahlberg told The Herald: "I played golf at Portmarnock, it was beautiful. I'd love to come back here on vacation with my family.
"I had a bite to eat with Rory on Sunday and I was like, 'Dude, I need to come back, play golf and just hang out and see the sights'. I will at some point, it's just hard with work and the kids are in school.
"He gave me a new driver, which was great, I just can't wait to get to a golf course or a driving range and try it out."
However, it is doubtful if Wahlberg would have received a driver previously used by the four-time major winner - he's left-handed!
