This year's record-breaking Italian Open has been moved from Rome's Olgiata club to Royal Park I Roveri near Turin.
The Italian Golf Federation made the announcement regarding the October tournament which, for the first time in its history, will feature a prize fund of €7m.
This season's event forms part of the European Tour's newly unveiled Rolex Series and the tournament's contract with the Tour means it will offer a €7m purse for the next 10 years.
The increased prize money is part of the build-up to the 2022 Ryder Cup, which will be staged at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club, 17km from the centre of Rome.
Funding for major events in Italy has become an issue after Rome withdrew its bid for the 2024 Olympics.
Luca Lotti, the Italian government's sports minister, said: "We are not afraid to organise big sports events in Italy.
"I'm convinced that if they are well controlled and well organised, they can become a developmental and promotional engine for our country."
The 2017 instalment of the Italian Open - which was first held in 1925 - takes place between October 12-15. Royal Park I Roveri last staged Italy's national championship in 2012.
