A comfortable success, achieved courtesy of goals from Fabian Frei and Innocent Emeghara, means the Swiss remain top of Group A.

It was from his clever through-ball that Frei was able to race clear down the right flank and calmly slot past Haraldur Bjornsson.

It was, however, to be the Swiss who doubled their lead five minutes before the interval as Bjornsson saw a shot from Emeghara loop agonisingly into the back of his net despite getting a foot to the ball.
Iceland, aware that they found themselves standing on the brink of elimination, attempted to raise their game after the interval but could only muster a collection of half-chances.
Kolbeinn Sigthorsson came closest to offering them a lifeline, but he saw a goal-bound attempt hacked off the line by Frei.
