Manchester United's Phil Jones had to undertake some unorthodox defending to deny Arsenal's Olivier Giroud a goal-scoring opportunity

“Use your head, son,” is a common phrase of encouragement from the sidelines but Phil Jones took it to another level with this piece of unorthodox defending.

The England man got himself into a right pickle when chasing Arsenal's Oliver Giroud with the striker seemingly beyond Jones and through on goal.

However, Jones never gave up and somehow, despite being off balance and sprawling around on the floor like a fish out of water, managed to make a last-ditch challenge with his head.

It gave co-commentator Gary Neville the giggles: “He’s doing breaststroke, front crawl – the lot. He’s head-butted the floor!”
