Wimbledon cruise past Exeter

Image: Matt Tubbs: Bagged his 12th goal of the season

AFC Wimbledon recorded a fourth win in five games as they comfortably saw off Exeter City 4-1 on Sunday.

Matt Tubbs bagged his 12th goal of the season to set the Dons on their way to an impressive first home league victory since mid-November. League Two top scorer Tubbs found the net before a second-half own goal from Christian Ribeiro doubled the home side's lead. Two good headed chances fell to Adebayo Azeez but the 20-year-old striker forward failed to make any meaningful connection with either cross having found space well. Exeter created chances throughout and both Graham Cummins and Liam Sercombe were unlucky when thwarted by the post and a Jake Goodman block respectively. Azeez added a third with just less than 20 minutes left to play and namesake Adebayo Akinfenwa's eighth goal of the season rounded off a brilliant Dons performance with just four minutes left to play. Liam Sercombe pulled one back for Exeter in the 90th minute but it proved little consolation as his side recorded only their second loss since October 11th.
