Swansea captain Ashley Williams is confident that Swansea can start beating the Premier League’s top sides on a regular basis.

Garry Monk’s team moved up to fifth in the Premier League after they managed to overcome a one-goal deficit to beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.

The victory marked an impressive start to the campaign and it is another notable victory alongside their opening day scalp against Manchester United.

Williams believes Swansea can really progress after showing they can reach their full potential against the very best teams.

"The next step is to have the confidence to beat the big teams and we've done really well in doing that this season.

"There was a period when you felt the squad was confident but thinking 'We're quite good but can we win these games.

"But we work hard and prepare well, so why not? Obviously we'll have tough times in the season but we feel now that we can really make a mark, show what we're about and go up against teams like Arsenal."

Williams wants Swansea to make an impression in the Premier League. They currently sit above the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton.

"We don't just want to stay in the Premier League as we've been here for a number of years," he said.

"We feel we've got the quality and work ethic to be in the top half at least and we're not here to just try and survive."
