Jamie Vardy admits he likes to do things his own way as England prepare to face Slovakia in their final Group B game in Euro 2016.
The Leicester striker came off the bench to score the equalising goal in the 2-1 win over Wales on Thursday, with fellow substitute Daniel Sturridge going on to grab the winner.
But Vardy shuns the weights room favoured by most players and was pictured last week holding an energy drink and a tin of nicotine pouches before training.
"If I go in the gym it will slow me down. I don't go in for weights or anything like that. People have tried [to persuade me] and not succeeded," he said.
"Each and every person is different and this is my way.
"I'm sure if someone else tried doing what I do then it probably wouldn't work for them."
His choice of stimulant may have raised some eyebrows but they are not prohibited and are not a staple of his daily routine.
"They've been checked with the medical team and there's nothing wrong with them," added Vardy.
"It's not a regular thing whereby I have one every morning. It's just something I felt I needed that day."
Vardy's goal against the Welsh and his enthusiasm in chasing their tired defence will not have gone unnoticed by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
The Frenchman attempted to wrap up a surprise deal for Vardy just before the tournament but is now waiting for his involvement to end before discussions on a potential move can continue.
And despite having a career-defining move on the table, Vardy's focus is not wavering from the task at hand in France.
"It's been easy [to shut that out]," he said.
"I'm here to concentrate and focus on England and that's all I'm going to be doing and now we'll just get back on that training field and focus on the next match."
