Heerenveen secured a surprise 2-0 home win over 10-man PSV Eindhoven on Sunday.

Goals in the fourth and sixth minutes from Arber Zeneli and Reza Ghoochannejhad gave them a convincing lead, and when PSV's Hirving Lozano was shown a straight red card in the 37th, the visitors' hopes took a significant blow.

Lozano was sent off for a clumsy challenge on Denzel Dumfries, and his team sit fifth in the table but level on nine points with Vitesse Arnhem, Ajax, FC Utrecht and AZ Alkmaar having won their previous three games.

Seventh-placed Heerenveen have eight points from their four fixtures while defending champions Feyenoord have won all four.

Utrecht's promising start to the season continued with a 2-0 home victory over pointless Roda JC courtesy of a second-minute goal from Sander van der Streek and another from Zakaria Labyad in the 58th.

AZ Alkmaar's 2-1 defeat of NAC Breda leaves them sixth, and therefore the lowest of the five teams level on nine points. They took the lead in the 55th minute through Jeremy Helmer's goal, and secured the win three minutes later through Guus Til. Giovanni Korte responded in the 84th minute for the visitors.

There was also a first victory of the league season for Sparta Rotterdam, who won 1-0 against FC Twente, who were also reduced to 10 men. Craig Goodwin gave the hosts an 18th-minute lead, while Stefan Thesker was dismissed in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time after a second yellow card.
