Injury-time goals from Claude Gnakpa and Emmanuele Smith gave Walsall a dramatic 2-1 home victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
After a quiet first half, the highlight of which saw Owls goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell tip an effort from Mat Sadler over the crossbar, the visitors had looked like securing a fourth win in five games when Ryan Lowe headed home a Chris Lines cross on the hour. But Gary Megson's second-placed side, denied at the death by promotion-chasing rivals Huddersfield in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Hillsborough last week, were to be thwarted once more. Alex Nicholls' curling shot from the edge of the area that struck the crossbar should have served as a warning shot for Wednesday, who might have extended their lead only for Chris O'Grady to miss the target from 12 yards out. But Gnakpa drilled in a deflected shot from 25 yards in the first minute of added time before Smith found the bottom corner from 12 yards out three minutes later.
