Walter Mazzarri was "angry" with Watford's 1-0 defeat at Sunderland after seeing his side miss a number of chances.
Watford fell to their fourth straight defeat away from home in the Premier League, with Patrick van Aanholt netting the winner four minutes after the break.
Nordin Amrabat came close to breaking the deadlock for Watford in the first couple of minutes, but goalkeeper Jordan Pickford denied him with a superb save.
And with Miguel Britos also seeing a header sail just wide after brushing off team-mate Younes Kaboul, Watford boss Mazzarri was left bitterly disappointed with their efforts up front.
"I'm very angry because we made the mistakes ourselves. It was us that gave Sunderland these three points," he told Sky Sports after the game.
"I'm angry because we didn't manage to take our chances, the many chances that we had.
"And then of course at the end we ended up paying for those missed chances, and this is something we must work on."
Watford's fourth defeat in five league games leaves them 12th at Christmas, having occupied the top half of the table for the majority of the season beforehand.
But despite a slip in form, Mazzarri insists he is not looking down and is confident Watford can turn it around if they improve in attack.
"No I'm not worried, but in football you need to score and you have to take your chances. But I'm not worried and we have to continue playing," he added.
The Watford boss was then asked what changes need to be made to turn around their fortunes, but the Italian simply responded: "I don't want to say it now. I will speak with the players."
The Hornets' next two matches will be live on Sky Sports 1 HD, as they host Crystal Palace on Boxing Day before taking on Tottenham on New Year's Day.
