Harry Kane rued Tottenham's wasted chance to put pressure on the Premier League leaders with defeat at Burnley.

The England striker returned after six weeks out with an ankle injury and scored Spurs goal in a 2-1 defeat at Turf Moor on Saturday lunchtime.

The visitors could have closed the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool to two points, at least until the latter's match at Manchester United on Sunday, but instead stay five points short of the top.

"It was a big opportunity for us to get another three points and really push up and see what happens over the weekend," Kane told Sky Sports News.

"But we didn't take that advantage. We're disappointed, it hurts now, but all we can do is move on quickly.

"It's great to be playing again. You never like to be injured and of course it's nice to get a goal, but it doesn't really matter if you don't win the game.

"It's down to all of us (to win). We need everyone involved; scoring, assists, clean sheets. We're doing everything we can to push on for the rest of the season."

"We've dealt with situations like this before in the past and we always bounce back. That's something we're going to do in the next game and hopefully we can put it right."
