Mauricio Pochettino gives his reaction to Tottenham's Australia tour and is looking ahead to the start of the season

Mauricio Pochettino has set his sights on the new Premier League season after Tottenham's pre-season tour of Australia came to end.

Spurs head back to England winless after two defeats from their two International Champions Cup fixtures - the latest of which coming against Atletico Madrid on Friday.

Despite this, Pochettino branded the tour a success after several first and youth team players got some valuable game-time under their belts ahead of the new season, where Spurs will try and build on last season's third-place finish.

"It was fantastic to give minutes to players," Pochettino told his post-match press conference in Melbourne.

"A lot of them young and it was fantastic to see them play against top-class teams like Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

"It was good to analyse and take positives in for the future, and to have senior players training.

Asked whether there were any signings he would like to bring to the club ahead of the new campaign, though, Pochettino added: "We need to add the players that were involved in the Euros.

"That is very important now to complete the squad and all together start to work and be focused on the first game against Everton. That is our challenge now."
