The mystery of how a foul-mouthed message was played over the tannoy during Bournemouth's 5-1 defeat at home to Tottenham on Sunday has been solved.

It was initially reported that Bournemouth's PA announcer had accidentally turned the system on before using an explicit swear word and concluding: "It's men against boys."

Both sets of supporters immediately sang: "You're getting sacked in the morning".

And, after the match, a Bournemouth spokesman confirmed that the incident was being investigated.

However the Bournemouth announcers are in the clear because an online Spurs supporters TV channel - spurredontv - has owned up.

It transpires that the radio microphone the Spurs fans were using outside the ground was on exactly the same frequency as the Bournemouth tannoy system inside the ground.

Barnaby, the presenter in question, posted a video in which he explained how the incident had happened.

"After 85 minutes I left the ground because I had to go and meet my cameraman, Glen, outside so we could film our fan-cams," he said.

"And what I do when I meet Glen is, I pick up the microphone, turn it on; it's a radio microphone.

'Anyway, after the game when.... [my friends], who I was watching inside with, came out, they said, 'Listen, mate, we just heard your voice on the whole tannoy system.

"Basically what had happened was, when I turned the radio mic on, the frequency must have accidentally been the same as the Bournemouth tannoy and apparently the whole of the Bournemouth stadium heard me say, '******* ****', it was like men against boys'.

"I just want to say, Bournemouth PA man, it wasn't you saying that your own team were bad, it was me - and I'm sorry."
