Bury got back to winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 home victory against Portsmouth on Saturday.
Danny Mayor claimed a ninth-minute opener before Ryan Lowe doubled the Shakers' lead in the 44th minute. Danny Rose then sealed victory in the 61st minute to send Bury back into second place in League Two. The Shakers bossed most of the contest, with Mayor giving them an early lead as he cut in from the left before curling a superb 20-yard effort in off the bar. Pompey almost hit straight back as Michael Drennan fired just over before Lowe scuffed the ball wide from Rose's cross. But the Bury striker made no mistake on the stroke of half time. Pablo Mills picked out Nicky Adams with a chip from halfway and Adams volleyed sideways for Lowe to head home from 12 yards. Half-time substitute Ricky Holmes and fellow Pompey midfielder Jed Wallace both went close after the break. Drennan then failed to turn Holmes' low ball on target from close range. But Rose clinched victory as he slid in Lowe's cut-back for Bury's third, with sub Dan Nardiello twice going close to adding a fourth late on.
