Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has returned to Anfield to deliver an emotional tribute to his 'favourite stadium'.
Gerrard made more than 500 appearances for Liverpool during his 17 years in the first team before moving to LA Galaxy in the summer of 2015.
The 36-year-old was a fan-favourite among the Kop and has spoken of his most savoured Anfield memories in a new documentary, This is Anfield, which delves back 150 years into the Reds' history.
Gerrard's last competitive appearance at the stadium ended in a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, but the ex-England captain, who lifted the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, has described how the atmosphere inside the 54,000 capacity stadium drove his ambition to play for the Reds from the age of 10.
"There are some giant clubs out there where I have played and enjoyed the experience," says Gerrard.
"But all my memories and some of my best nights and my best performances have been here, so it will always have a special place in my heart."
