Danny Ings was delighted to get his name on the scoresheet as Liverpool drew 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The former Burnley striker netted the opener from a corner in the 42nd minute, before the Reds were pegged back by Romelu Lukaku just before half-time.
"It was great to get my goal in the derby but unfortunately we didn't get the three points," said Ings, who was playing in his first Merseyside derby.
"I love every goal I score, it doesn't matter the game but it was great to get the header because I'm only a little man!"
Ings also offered his support for Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who has come under a lot of pressure in recent times at Anfield.
"All that outside noise we ignore," added Ings. "In the dressing room we stick together and you saw that today."
A goal for Ings against Everton was the perfect way to cap a week that saw him receive an England call-up for the first time, and the striker voiced his delight at obtaining the recognition at international level.
"It's been a great week, it's huge for my confidence and a big step in my career," he said.
