Eddie Howe felt his Bournemouth team looked the better side for long periods of the game in their 2-1 loss to Everton

Eddie Howe has confirmed his commitment to Bournemouth after being linked as a potential successor to Roberto Martinez at Everton.

Howe had been mentioned as a candidate to take over at Goodison Park should the uncertainty surrounding Martinez lead to the Spaniard leaving the club.

Martinez's role at Everton was discusses at a board meeting at the club on Friday, and there were protests by supporters before and after Saturday's 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

Having seen his side lose that game, Howe was then asked about being linked to Everton but said: "I am absolutely committed to Bournemouth and while I have the relationship with the owner I will be staying at the club."

The defeat to Everton was Bournemouth's fifth in their past six games, a sequence which began after their Premier League status was secured.

But Howe completely rejects any suggestions that his players have eased off in the past month.

"People have been accusing us of that for weeks," he said. "I am training the players as hard as ever. Losing hurts and I am determined to end the season on a high.
